As a Remote Medical Coding Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and efficient medical coding for our client's organization. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform code abstraction of medical records to ensure ICD-10-CM codes are accurately assigned and supported by clinical documentation
  • Identify diagnosis and chart level impairments and documentation improvement opportunities for provider education
  • Assist coding leadership by making recommendations for process improvements to further enhance coding goals and outcomes
  • Maintain current knowledge of ICD-10-CM codes, CMS documentation requirements, and state and federal regulations
  • Consistently maintain a minimum 95% accuracy on coding quality audits
  • Meet minimum productivity requirements as outlined by the project terms
  • Handle other related duties as required or assigned

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must possess:

  • A medical coding certification (CPC-A, CCA, CPC, CCS, RHIA, RHIT, CRC) obtained through the AAPC or AHIMA
  • A high school diploma or GED (required and verified)
  • Technical savviness, including the ability to learn software and troubleshoot equipment as needed
  • A private, distraction-free workspace in your home
  • High-speed internet with the ability to hardwire with ethernet for faster connectivity
  • The ability to pass a background check and drug test

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Previous experience in medical coding (although not necessary, as comprehensive training will be provided)
  • Familiarity with medical coding software and technology
